At bwy ddylwn i ysgrifennu?

Nodwch eich cod post i weld cyngor parthed eich cynrychiolwyr chi.

Rydyn ni eisiau eich helpu i gael eich problem i'r person iawn

Fel rhywun sy'n byw yn y DU, mae gennych nifer o gynrychiolwyr ar wahanol haenau o lywodraeth.

Mae gan wahanol gynrychiolwyr gyfrifoldebau gwahanol. Weithiau mae gennych sawl cynrychiolydd ar yr un lefel.

Mae'r dudalen hon yn esbonio cyfrifoldebau'r gwahanol fathau o gynrychiolwyr i'ch helpu i wneud eich dewis.

Efallai y bydd eich cynrychiolwyr hefyd yn gallu eich helpu gyda phroblemau y tu allan i'w maes cyfrifoldeb, ond mae hyn orau fel cynnydd ar ôl i lwybrau eraill gael eu ceisio.

When should I contact a councillor?

Councillors have differing responsibilities depending on which council you live in. Because of these variations we are only able to give you ‘rule-of-thumb’ guidance here.

Firstly, in England you may have two levels of council: County and District, in which case their responsibilities are divided as follows:

  • District Councillors: If you have one or more District Councillor, they tend to deal with issues around council housing, planning, rubbish collection, the local environment, and the administration of elections.
  • County Councillors: If you have one or more county councillors, they tend to deal with education, transport and roads, fire and social services plus libraries.

Otherwise, you will have only one council, whose responsibilities differ depending on exactly where you live. We describe these on the page which lists your councillors.

You have multiple councillors representing you. You can chose to write to one of them, or send a message to all of them.

For a personal matter, you might prefer to write to a single councillor. If you write to multiple councillors, this will be clear in your message and they might collectively just send one response.

Don’t worry if you’re not absolutely sure who to pick! Whoever you write to should forward your letter to the most appropriate person, if you haven’t got it quite right.

When should I contact an MSP?

MSPs deal with any issues for which the Scottish Parliament is responsible. They include:

  • health
  • education and training
  • local government
  • social work
  • housing
  • planning
  • tourism, economic development and financial assistance to industry
  • some aspects of transport, including the Scottish road network, bus policy and ports and harbours
  • law and home affairs, including most aspects of criminal and civil law, the prosecution system and the courts
  • police and fire services
  • environment
  • natural and built heritage
  • agriculture, forestry and fishing
  • sport and the arts
  • statistics, public registers and records

You have a constituency MSP representing you, and a further 7 regional MSPs. You can choose to write to your constituency MSP, or to any of the regional MSPs.

The constituency MSP should be the first point of contact for a local issue, but one of the regional members may be better aligned with your politics if campaigning on an issue.

When should I contact a Northern Ireland Assembly Member?

The Northern Ireland Assembly can help you with the following matters:

  • Agriculture and Rural Development

  • Education
  • Employment and Learning
  • Enterprise, Trade and Investment
  • Environment
  • Finance and Personnel
  • Health, Social Services and Public Safety
  • Justice
  • Regional Development
  • Social Development

Issues for which you should contact your Westminster MP, rather than your Assembly Member, include navigation and civil aviation, financial services, telecommunications, postal services, the national minimum wage, defence, immigration, taxation, and elections.

Pryd ddylwn i gysylltu ag Aelod o'r Senedd?

Mae eich cynrychiolwyr yn y Senedd yn gyfrifol am ddeddfu mewn meysydd datganoledig, ac am gefnogi/craffu gwaith Lywodraeth Cymru.

Mae Senedd/Llywodraeth Cymru yn gweithio ar fodel "pwerau a gedwir yn ôl".

Mae hyn yn golygu bod rhai pwerau wedi'u cadw i Senedd y DU, a'r gweddill yn cael eu datganoli i'r Senedd.

Mae meysydd craidd cyfrifoldeb y Senedd yn cynnwys:

  • addysg
  • iechyd
  • llywodraeth leol
  • tai
  • trafnidiaeth
  • cynllunio
  • datblygu economaidd
  • trethi penodol, megis Treth Trafodiadau Tir
  • gwasanaethau cymdeithasol
  • diwylliant
  • Senedd ac etholiadau lleol
  • y Gymraeg
  • yr amgylchedd
  • amaethyddiaeth a materion gwledig

Materion sydd wedi'u cadw i Senedd y DU yw'r cyfansoddiad, amddiffyn, diogelwch cenedlaethol, mewnfudo, cyfiawnder, a phlismona.

Mae gennych chwe Aelod o'r Senedd yn eich cynrychioli. Gallwch ddewis ysgrifennu at un neu bob un ohonynt.

Efallai y byddwch chi'n dewis ysgrifennu at un aelod os oes ganddynt ddiddordeb arbennig mewn mater, neu os ydynt yn cyd-fynd â chi yn wleidyddol (er na ddylai hyn fod o bwys os ydych chi'n codi mater personol yr hoffech chi help ag ef).

Os ydych chi'n ysgrifennu at sawl aelod, bydd hyn yn glir yn eich neges ac efallai y byddant gyda'i gilydd yn anfon un ymateb.

Byddwn yn diweddaru'r adran hon gyda mwy o ganllawiau wrth iddi ddod yn gliriach sut mae'r etholaethau aml-aelod newydd yn gweithio yn ymarferol.

When should I contact a London Assembly Member?

The Greater London Authority’s main areas of responsibility are:

  • Transport
  • Policing
  • Fire and emergency planning
  • Economic development
  • Planning
  • Culture
  • Environment
  • Health

You have a constituency Assembly Member representing you, and a further 11 London-wide Assembly Members. You can choose to write to your constituency Assembly Member, or to any of the London-wide Assembly Members.

The constituency Assembly Member may be able to better help with a local issue, but one of the London-wide members may be better aligned with your politics.

Assembly Members can also hold the Mayor of London to account. For local issues which fall outside those topics, you should contact your local councillor.

Pryd ddylwn i gysylltu â'm Aelod Seneddol?

Mae eich Aelod Seneddol yn eich cynrychioli yn Senedd y DU, sy'n gyfrifol am ddeddfu a chefnogi/craffu gwaith Llywodraeth y DU.

Efallai y byddwch yn ysgrifennu at eich Aelod Seneddol i godi mater ymgyrchu lleol neu genedlaethol, neu am helpu gyda phroblem bersonol gyda gwasanaeth y llywodraeth.

Efallai y bydd Aelodau Seneddol yn gallu eich cynorthwyo gyda materion gydag adrannau llywodraeth ganolog, megis:

  • ymholiadau treth
  • budd-daliadau, pensiynau ac yswiriant gwladol
  • mewnfudo

Yng Nghymru, mae addysg ac iechyd yn faterion datganoledig - efallai y bydd eich Aelod Seneddol yn gallu helpu, ond eich Aelodau o'r Senedd fydd y pwynt cyswllt cyntaf ar gyfer y materion hyn.

Efallai y bydd eich Aelod Seneddol hefyd yn gallu gweithio gyda'ch cynghorwyr lleol i helpu gyda materion lleol, megis problemau gyda'ch cyngor lleol neu wasanaethau lleol - er mai eich cynghorwyr lleol fydd y pwynt cyswllt cyntaf ar gyfer y materion hyn.

Nid yw eich Aelod Seneddol eich helpu mewn anghydfodau preifat gydag unigolion na chwaith cwmnïau sydd wedi gwerthu nwyddau diffygiol i chi, ac ni allant ymyrryd â phenderfyniadau a wneir gan lys.
